Frosted Purple resin three wise monkey statue. Comes in padded gift box and with story.
The Three Wise Monkeys—See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil—graphically represent the belief that if we do not hear, see or speak of evil, we ourselves will be spared all evil. The Monkeys also symbolise discretion, discipline, modesty and self-control. Used in ceremonies in ancient Japan, the origin of the Three Wise Monkeys is uncertain. One version is they were introduced into Japan by a Buddhist monk from China where the monkeys were associated with the blue-faced deity, Vadjra; their gestures conveying the command of the god. The Three Monkeys also appear in Zulu mythology as a symbol of the need to discipline one’s mind and avoid gossip and meddling in the affairs of others.
